The speaker encouraged us that it really is possible to adopt without debt. She once was watching a Dave Ramsey show and he told a caller that God would never call you to something you couldn't pay for. Interesting thought.
From there she covered grants, tax deductions (which is up in the air for anyone bringing home a child after 2012), and creative ways to raise money. I was encouraged that we had already starting being proactive in raising support and further encouraged to keep up the good work and follow through on some other fun ways to get support (financial and personal!).
Julie Gumm was the speaker and author of Adopt Without Debt--Creative Ways to Cover the Cost of Adoption. I will be interested to see what extra help this book may offer. For those adopting, you are welcome to borrow my copy!
Money is always a stressful aspect of any part of life. But what will we do in order to bring home our kid(s)? Anything. Garage sales, craft sales, 5k races, bread sales, pancake breakfasts, t-shirts....the list could go on for days. We can do this! And do this debt free!
