Count Down to Corn Hole Tournament! (6 days)

Greetings everyone!

We are getting excited about the Corn Hole Tourney this Sunday afternoon, October 6th at 3pm!
(Check out previous blog post  for details).

Just wanted to give a brief update on our progress (and when I say brief, trust me, it's brief!) and then reveal a few fun things about the tournament prizes and raffles.

Update:  We have not moved up on the waiting list.  So, we are still at 93.
See.  I told you.  Very brief.

....But of course, you may be asking why haven't they moved up?...(the not so brief part)...Basically, for two months in the fall, regional and national courts are closed in Ethiopia.  So, no paperwork is being processed.  Also, there could be months that we don't move up simply because there just weren't any kids placed with families (sad).  Pray for more families to be able to take care of these orphans and welcome them into a family that they otherwise may never have been able to join!

Also, just throwing this out there...on October 19th, a local adoption ministry, Chosen for Life Ministries, is having an adoption conference.  Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it, but if you are interested in adoption (or how to support friends and family that are adopting) you should go!  If you do, take good notes and let me know what you learned!

Ok, now for the Corn Hole details...
I've decided leading up to this Sunday (the day of the tournament), I am going to slowly present the raffle baskets!  Get excited, they are going to be good...

But before revealing the first of many cool raffle prizes, we have made the final decision for the prize for the 3rd place teams.  (Drum roll please.....)
A $10 gift card for each player to your local Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robins!!

And now, without further ado, the revealing of the first raffle basket:

--Coffee theme--
Fresh roasted Ethiopian coffee from 2Story Coffee House,
2 hand thrown mugs from a local potter,
and other delicious coffee treats!

Signing off for now...check again tomorrow for the next revealing of the raffle prizes...

Corn Hole Tournament (Part II) Details

Alrighty folks!  Get excited!

 Time:  Sign in from 2:00-3:00pm
            Start games at 3:00pm

If you want to play:
~$20 suggested entry donation per team (there are 2 players per team).
~Winning team will receive two $50 gift cards (one for each player).
~Runner up will receive two $25 gift cards (one for each player).

~Third place(s) will receive a treat of sorts (undecided at the moment...)
~We've added a new dynamic to this tournament--the best team name/jersey/spirit/etc. is in the running for a prize of their own!  The winners will receive a surprise prize...trust me, it will be worth dressing up for.

If you DON'T want to play:
~Please, still come, cheer and enjoy the afternoon with us.  We had the wave going at the final round of the last tournament.  Looking forward to hearing some more cheers and team spirit!
~We will have a few gift baskets for raffle again.  Each ticket will be $5.  We have some ideas in mind but haven't nailed down the exact ones we want to do yet (stay tuned so you can be prepared for which one you might have an eye on...)

This is an open event.  Please feel free to invite your friends and family.  There will be plenty of space to enjoy a beautiful fall afternoon.

Bring your own folding chair, pom poms, and sunscreen.  This will be more exciting than any football game you've been to!

Stay posted for additional details as they come....

Corn Hole Tournament Part II

Due to popular demand, we are going to have another corn hole tournament!  Go ahead and mark your calendars for Sunday, October 6th (time TBA).

I'm hoping that we will have some returning teams as well as new teams to play for the grand prize ($50 gift cards to each team member...).  We will also have gift baskets again that you can try to win.  So even if you don't play, you can still participate in the fundraiser.  There may also be a few new dynamics in ways to win prizes for your team (more details in following post).

The results from the tournament in March...who will be the victor this time?

We officially have our first team already signed up and ready to play....let the trash talk begin!  (And by the way, that team has said, "At this point, everyone is beneath me!!")

So the competition has thus commenced.

Looking forward to enjoying some fellowship with everyone and getting one step closer to bringing our kid home. :)

Stay tuned for more details....
